How To Setup A Home Cinema Speaker System?

I Just brought a ASDA 5.1 home theatre speaker system and i want to connect it to my dvd player. i have 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer and the 5 speakers plug directly into the subwoofer (imput?), but the thing that confuses me is their are 3 audio imput cables (Red and White) but where do i put them on my dvd player as i only have 1 (red and white) "holes" for them to go in so where do i put the other 2 audio cables?
The three audio cable represent each speaker (1 red connecter= left front speaker, 1 white connecter= right front speaker etc)

You only need one red/white cable to send audio from your DVD player to your surround system. The other two are spares.
