I connected a DVD player to an old TV with an adapter. How do i make it work with no TV/Video option on the TV?

There's no option on the remote. The menu has one option called "Cable/Air", but that does nothing that I can see. There's no TV/Video option so I don't know how to make the DVD player work. There is only one place for any cord in the back of the TV and that is for the cable, so I got an adapter. Please help me figure this out.

Pick up an old vcr with a scart socket input and connect the dvd player to this. When connected select A.V or external input on the vcr to play the dvd. Connect the vcr aerial output to the t.v with a standard coaxial connection with the aerial connected to the vcr coaxial input. Tune the t.v in the usual way as you would normally to set up the vcr and play tapes.
